Build a Pollinator Rest Stop

Create a small, safe stop where bees, butterflies, and other pollinators can find food, water, and shelter.

👤 Ages 7+⏱ 45 min☀ Outdoors
🐝

Your mission

Pollinators need connected places to rest and refuel. You will plan one with an adult and observe who visits.

What you’ll need

  • A shallow dish and clean pebbles
  • Water
  • Pollinator-friendly plants approved for your area
  • Paper and pencil for observations

Steps

  1. Ask an adult to help choose a safe outdoor spot.
  2. Choose local flowers that provide nectar or pollen.
  3. Place pebbles in a shallow dish and add just enough water.
  4. Leave space for pollinators to land safely.
  5. Observe from a distance. Draw or write what you notice.

Reflect

  • Which visitors did you notice?
  • What might make this rest stop even safer?
  • How do plants and pollinators help one another?
